The long awaited FIFA World Cup trophy has arrived in Uganda. The trophy jetted in with a host of FIFA officials at the Entebbe International Airport on Monday ahead of a two-day tour in the country, which will allow soccer fans to spend time with it and take photographs.
President Yoweri Museveni is expected to grace the event as the trophy tours the country for the second time since making its maiden visit in 2009.
Uganda is among the ten African countries where local fans will have an opportunity to interact with the coveted trophy.
Nigeria, Senegal, Cote D’Ivoire and Egypt will be the final countries to host the trophy on the African continent. The 2018 FIFA World Cup trophy tour kicked off last September in host country Russia and will visit more than 50 countries and regions across six continents, travelling 126,000 kilometers in nine months in the lead-up to the football tournament.
