David Kitt
Cling Film
~
words by tom johnson
Even if you weren’t aware that David Kitt had spent the last few years playing in, and recording with, Tindersticks you might be able to tell such a thing from his music, blessed, as it is, with the same sense of exquisite balance and elegance as Stuart Staples’ consummate project. This, however, is Kitt’s own work; a brand new album to be released in March, and his first in some nine years. Led, last month, by the eminently pretty ‘Still Don’t Know’, GFP is very pleased to unveil another new track from the album today in the form of Cling Film; a similarly alluring piece of folk/pop blessed with a captivatingly steady pace.
“It kind of equates the feeling of falling under someone’s spell to being slowly wrapped in layers of cling film,” Kitt says of the new track, “to the point where you can’t make anything out at all. It’s also a play on words as it’s written like a short film with the action all twisting and turning its way around Dublin city.”
